I completley agree with you (A.J.)

It drives me nuts when soemone tries to pull some crazy metric measurement on me IN THE USA. 34/100 mm? NO. Just 13 thousandths. I KNOW what 13 thousandths is, I live HERE. I am PROUD to live here, and I don't pretend i'm european (very often)...

And centimeters are too small and meters are too big. this table is not 152.4 cm, it's FIVE FEET wide. Not .695 meters, 2' 2 3/8". Midpoint? um 1" 1 3/16" or ummmmmm uhhhh about 700/2 or .350 meters. one is 3 mm off though...

Maybe metric is better only when you have a calculator.

[...] If you check out this post, you’ll see that I had an uninvited houseguest for a period of time. As it turned out, that was Matty, and he was a houseguest for about four months. A few years ago I had given him a key to the place for no other real reason than he and Angie gave me a key to their place, and I felt like I should reciprocate. Close friends, they take care of each other, right? I hadn’t forgotten that I gave him the key… he had just never used it before, so it wasn’t really on my mind. [...]

I have long favored metric. The French scientists who created the metric system desperately needed something better than some roughly cobbled together collection of units that were of local use only. That it would be decimal was decided from the beginning. Units based on body parts were completely ruled out as unreliable. A unit based on the earth's circumference was decided on. The remaining units were derived from this.
